Nicola's - Let's Do Trivia! - 4/5/22

April Fools had come and gone but the fun and frivolity persisted at Nicola Pizza on the avenue. 9 teams broke loose with 4 of them acing both rounds 1 and2. Round 3 proved tough for everybody. At the half, Sharkbites led the house team (Boli Express) by 1 point with Happy Locals in 3rd. Glorious 6 sat 2 in 4th, and Rejected Off Center Crew in 5th. Right behind was We're Helium Positive in a tie with Mayhem while J.T. (newcomers) and Trivia Masters rounded out the field.

 

We soon found that J.T. had left the building. Sharkbites and Mayhem were perfect in round 4, not so much in round 5. Three of our teams found their groove for round 6. Prepping for the final, Sharkbites seemed unbeatable (having led from the gun). Boli Express had slipped by 1 (now 4 points off the pace). Rejected Off Center Crew had rallied into 3rd and We're Helium Positive floated into 4th place. The point spread had grown to 37 but it wasn't over yet. Two of our teams submitted the correct final answer, ironically with two different wagering strategies. In the end it was certainly Sharkbites' night. They not only garnered the half-time prize they took the game in commanding fashion. Rejected Off Center Crew finish the night in second.

On Tuesday night, New Year's Eve, Nicola Pizza hosted an unforgettable round of Let's Do Trivia ! Thirteen teams gathered to compete in a night full of fun, knowledge, and friendly rivalry. The first half saw Off Center take the lead with 34 points, closely followed by Landing Crew (32) and Boli Express (30). Grussell Sprouts, K n K, and Torbert Fam tied for fourth with 29 points each. At halftime, Landing Crew surged ahead with an impressive 40 points, while Torbert Fam (35) and a tie between Off Center and Boli Express (34 each) kept the competition tight. In the second half, Landing Crew maintained their dominance, ending with 74 points, but Torbert Fam gained momentum, finishing strong with 61 points, while Off Center held steady with 58. In the final standings, Torbert Fam clinched the top spot with 81 points, taking home the $50 prize. *Have a Merry Christmas! We'll be back on New Year's Eve* Nicola's: We had a baker's dozen of teams join our game this week. Landing Crew snagged the OTB extra point and were off like a rocket right from the start. They ran at the front of the pack over the early rounds, however being challenged by several over teams. *draw a picture of Santa's sleigh on the (12/31/24) Round 2/Question 1 response for bonus points* At Halftime, Team Reed held the advantage over Ladybugs, then a 5-way tie (!) between Off Center, Boli Express, About Faces, Landing Crew and Danny DeVito Fan Club. This was a super-close match! The standings stayed too close to call over the second half, however Blame It On The Alcohol kicked in the afterburners to vault into the lead as we headed into the Final Bonus. Nicola's: A dozen teams filled the room for this week's game. About Faces and Whiskey & The Wino's both scored OTB extra points for their responses to get things off t a rousing start. It was a close match with the lead changing hands every round in the first half. *draw a picture of a fuzzy bunny on the (4/22/25) Round 2/Question 1 response for bonus points* At the halfway mark, Off Center and Landing Crew shared the top spot, closely followed by another tie between About Faces and Boli Express, then Whiskey & The Wino's. About Faces came on strong in the second half to quickly take over at the front while the rest of the field spread out.
