Nicola’s: It was our last game of the season before our summer hiatus, and we had an excellent crowd filled with several veteran teams along with a couple rookies. The Happy Locals scored the OTB extra point to kick off the match. There were a handful of teams that got off to a strong start, with Just Guessing emerging as the odds-on favorite. *there’s nothing to draw, go eat a Nicoboli*. At Halftime, Landing Crew held a slim lead over a tie between Just Guessing and KDK, then Blame It On The Alcohol followed by a 3-way tie between Handful Of Johnsons, Lucky 26 and Boli Express. KDK came on strong early in the second half to take over at the front, but then completely ran out of gas, allowing Blame It On The Alcohol to sweep past midway through the half. Going into the Final Bonus, Blame It On The Alcohol was closely followed by Landing Crew, Lucky 26, KDK, then a tie between Just Guessing and Handful Of Johnsons. Nicola’s: We had not one but two fantastic responses to our On Time Bonus question, so both Off Center & Landing Crew earned OTB extra points to get the game kicked off in a fun mood. Landing Crew took full advantage of their early jump to hold the top spot over the early rounds, but then were taken over by KDK late in the half. *draw a picture of a red poppy on the Round 2/Question 1 response (5/26/26) to score bonus points* At the halfway mark, Landing Crew had regained the lead after a universally disappointing Halftime Bonus. They were closely followed by KDK, Off Center, then a tie between Damn Yankees and Hard Eight. The see-saw battle at the front continued between Landing Crew and KDK early in the second half, but neither could hold off the steady pace of Damn Yankees as we came to the close of the half.
